Tips for lifting correctly

Learning to lift correctly is important to help prevent episodes of back, leg and arm pain.

Some tips to remember:

  • Plan before lifting. Think!.
  • Keep the feet about shoulder width apart.
  • Bend your knees and keep your back straight. Never bend your back when lifting.
  • Don't twist your back.
  • Try and split loads between both hands.
  • Keep the weight close to your body.
  • Keep your eyes up.
  • Tighten your abdominal muscles.
