Tips for lifting correctly
Learning to lift correctly is important to help prevent episodes of back, leg and arm pain.
Some tips to remember:
- Plan before lifting. Think!.
- Keep the feet about shoulder width apart.
- Bend your knees and keep your back straight. Never bend your back when lifting.
- Don't twist your back.
- Try and split loads between both hands.
- Keep the weight close to your body.
- Keep your eyes up.
- Tighten your abdominal muscles.
